As a kid, I liked Math the most because I was really good at my multiplication facts. But later on when I went to high school and I realized that my teachers had not prepared me for the challenging concepts of algebra, geometry or calculus. So, for a while I didn't like math. It was until I went to college that I really felt good about Math again. My other favorite subject is reading. I enjoy reading a good novel. I get so into the book that it's like watching a movie in my mind. When I find a good book I don't want to put it down. I like social studies because I get to find out about some crazy things that have happened in our world that most people wouldn't even believed they happened. For instance, landing on the moon, dinosaurs, mummies, ancient civilizations, wars, civil rights struggles, etc... And Science definitely awakes my imagination. It's unbelievable to think that there are small microorganisms that we can't see but that someone thought of it. Like germs, or cells.
What is your favorite subject? Why? And has it always been or has it changed?

I think I learn best when I do things, like experiments or activities that are with partners or in groups. Sometimes when I go to my math class I don't understand everything my teachers are saying so when I have a partner I feel more comfortable sharing what I did or didn't understand. I don't like to learn by only reading but also by doing things. I like to use materials ( small cubes, longs, flats, number lines, drawings) for math. I like to learn by looking at videos.
How do you like to learn? Or how do you think you learn best? So, I had a crazy day when everything seemed to go wrong. So, one time a couple of years ago. I woke up late to go to work, before I was a teacher. I was working at UIC Hospital, and I was rushing so I didn't completely clean as good as I could've the windshield from the frost. A couple minutes later I had ran right into a pothole. I heard a huge plop sound. Right away, I heard the tires making a dragging sound. I stopped and sure enough I had a flat tire. I got out of the car and began to change my tire. I was surely going to be late but at least it wouldn't be too late. I fixed the tire, I was racing to get to work on time but because I was speeding I got pulled over by a police officer. I got a ticket. Continued on my path to work. I got to work. But realized it was Saturday. I didn't work on Saturday.
Do you have a crazy day? I am looking forward to the winter break. I am hoping to spend quality time with family and friends. I am spending time with Dosie's family and my own. I really like when we make Christmas cookies or ginger bread man. I also look forward to going Ice Skating. Another thing, I plan to do over the break is watch a couple of movies. I am a big movie fan. Dosie and I are going to Mexico to visit my grandmother whose is sick. So, going to Mexico is definitely exciting because I get to see my dad's mom. I really like the winter and I am hoping we get some snow. Lastly, I am looking forward to waking up a little later than usual and spending time with Charlie. He is a bad boy!
What are you looking forward to during your winter break? I am currently taking classes as an adult. I like that I get to learn new things. I like that I get to work with other teachers for activities and assignments. I like that I can earn more money if I complete the courses and apply for a new certificate. I like that I can come back to my students and try new things that I have learned in class. I like so many things about being in school. However, there are some things that I don't like. For instance, I don't like that I get a lot of homework and it takes so much time to complete it. I don't like the stress that it brings. I don't like that right after work I have to go to a class and it makes my day really long before I can finally relax a little. But even though there are things I don't like about school I know that without school I wouldn't be able to have the life I want to have. School for me is the key to being successful.
WHAT THINGS DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SCHOOL? WHAT THINGS DON'T YOU LIKE ABOUT SCHOOL? My Halloween day was fun! In my classroom we did this awesome math activity were we discussed estimating. We introduced the concepts of diameter and circumference. We used this information to apply it to pumpkins. Now, the best part after we really got to bond with our pumpkins, (we gave them names) was that later we were ready to explode them. I know kind of cruel but it's Halloween. We first calculated how many rubber bands it would take to crush them. Surprisingly, it took more than 300 rubber bands for some groups. The suspense was frighteningly fun. Then boom! A blast of pumpkin seeds everywhere. Poor pumpkins we had squeezed them to hard and we enjoyed every minute of it.
How was your Halloween? A good day to me consists of having my students try their best, they did their work and can prove their thinking makes sense. A good day to me is when I spend time with my family. I have two brothers and a sister and although we are all grown up I still enjoy hanging out with them. Another thing that makes a day, a good day, is if at the end of it I know I did good actions. For instance, I feel good when I was kind, helped others or simply made someone smile. Also, a good day to me is when I spent time doing things I needed to do but also the things I wanted to do. If I did all of my work, homework, or chores around the house and I still got time to do fun things like watch a movie, go for a run, walk, bike ride or read a good book than I know I had a good day. The last thing that makes a good day is if I had my favorite food and ended the day healthy.
What is a good day for you? My favorite food is pizza. Pizza has been my favorite food for a long time. I also like tortas de milaneza de pollo. I like to run. I like to play basketball. My favorite sport to watch is basketball. I like to draw but not to color. My favorite song is called, Stand by Me. I like to watch comedy shows. My favorite thing to do is spend time with Dosie and Charlie at home, watching a movie. My favorite fall activity is to bike ride. My favorite activity in the winter is to ice skate.
I would say that some traits people would say about me are kind, helpful and persistent. I think for the most part I try to be kind to others. I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. I am helpful because... well, I am a teacher all I do is help students get better. I try my best to help my students and I don't give up on them. I keep trying, that's what being persistent is all about. What are your traits?
